Yesterday HTC released a new windows phone handset called HTC One M8 for Windows which is currently exclusive to Verizon network and costs 99 dollars on contract. We have been told that it will be made available to more carriers in coming months.
So how does the new HTC One M8 for Windows compares with the Lumia 930 which is Nokia’s flagship
Let us find out.
The HTC windows phone comes with a slightly more powerful Snapdragon 801 processor while the Nokia’s flagship comes with a snapdragon 800 quad core processor that runs at 2.2 GHz. A potential user always takes processing power into consideration when shelling out money on a flagship phone.
2. Expandable storage
The Lumia 930 comes with a non expandable 32 gigabytes of onboard storage. While HTC M8 has similar among of onboard storage it does comes with a micro SD card slot that lets you add 128GB micro SD. Oddly, Nokia’s plablet, the Lumia 1520 does comes with one but 930 does not.
Ask yourself whether you want megapixel or ultra pixel. Lumia 930 which is also known as Icon in United States come with a 20 MP pure view camera while the HTC’s windows phone comes outfitted with a ultra pixel camera that can capture 4MP photos. While both take incredible photos, detail is missing in HTC’s phone due to low mega pixel count.
However selfie-lovers will adore HTC’s 5MP front facing camera. Nokia’s phone comes with a measly 1.2 MP camera .
4. Battery Life
HTC takes this round as it features 2600mAh battery while Nokia Lumia 930 has 2420mAh battery. Both have non-removable batteries though.
5. Exclusive Apps
HTC has ported a bunch of its Android apps to windows phone platform for M8 such as Blinkfeed, Video Highlights and Sense Camera UI but it is nowhere near Nokia’s application collection. This includes MixRadio, Glance, Call Blocker, Lumia Storage Check, Nokia Camera, Nokia specific Camera apps and better firmware support.
Another important difference between the two is wireless charging feature which is only present in Lumia 930.
