Microsoft to stop using Nokia name in smartphones

Microsoft is looking forward to ditch the Nokia name from its Lumia range of smartphones. This is happening just after four months of buying the Finnish company’s handset business.

In fact Nokia’s France page already says that the their page’s name will change to Microsoft Lumia in coming days. As expected Microsoft declined to comment.

While Microsoft bought Nokia and its mobile-related patents for 7.2 billion dollars in April 2014, it did not acquire the name of the company.

NSN, which stands for Nokia Services and Networks still owns the manages the Nokia brand and only licenses it to the Redmond giant.
