Microsoft files case against Kyocera over patented technology

Microsoft has filed a case against Kyocera in the US District Court over alleged patent infringement violations. Microsoft says that Android phones being sold by Kyocera use Microsoft’s patents including the ones related to text messaging and location services.

The Redmond giant wants a sales injunction on all of the Kyocera Android phones in question. On the other hand, Kyocera was seen displaying a Windows Phone prototype at the mobile world congress 2015 event. Let us hope that this does not harm their future relationship.

David Howard, Microsoft deputy general counsel said

We respect Kyocera but we believe they need to license the patented technology they are using. We’re hopeful this case can be resolved amicably.
