Asus has been making the best detachable laptops that provide 2-in-1 functionality from quite sometime now and few days back, they churned out TransBook Mini T102HA laptop. Asus is positioning this laptop between a an entry level convertible and detachable laptops that come with entry-level Atom processors like Z3735F and Surface lineup from Microsoft that is quite expensive.

Asus T102HA is powered by Intel Atom X5-Z8350 quad core processor. This CPU has cache of 2MB and runs at 1.44GHz clock speed. Memory is 4GB which is same as its last iteration. Storage capacity has been bumped to 128GB RAM. Last generation maxed out at 64GB. Operating system is windows 10 home with Anniversary update already applied.
Size is about 259 × 170 × 8.2mm at the time of the tablet (width × depth × height) and weighs about 540 grams. Size is 259 × 170 × 13.9mm when using keyboard and total weight is 790 grams. Since the total weight is still under one kilos, portability is still very good.
Keyboard is isolation type, popularly known as chiclet. It has key pitch of 17mm which makes it great for typing long documents. The width of the keyboard is slightly less than what one gets in 11.6-inch netbooks like Lenovo IdeaPad 100s and other ThinkPad branded netbooks. Keyboard is connected to the display part using a connector and a magnet. There is a slot for the stylus as well.
Chassis is made of magnesium-aluminum alloy and is built like a tank. The keyboard does not feels flimsy when attached the display part.
Performance – compared to most netbooks that come with 32bit version of windows 10 as they often come with mere 2GB RAM, the Asus T102HA comes with 64bit due to 4GB RAM. This also ensures better multi-tasking experience. There is 128GB storage and it makes use of SanDisk DF4128. Out of usable 115GB, you get 99.5GB free.
We also ran Crystal Mark benchmark and these were the results – ALU 22275, FPU 18344, MEM 18331, HDD 16373, GDI 3281, D2D 2858, OGL 2885. Winsat results is 4.1 – Processor 6.1, memory 5.9, graphics 4.1, game graphics n / a, the primary hard disk 6.8. The band width of the memory is 9636.22115MB / s. PCMark 8 version 2 Home (accelerated) is 1496.
Google Octane 2.0 is a 7987. All in all, excellent score for a 2-in-1 detachable laptop. You will get 12.5 hours of continuous operation on a single charge.
